The Ministry of Interior, on June 20th, 2023 declared in a press release that, this year’s celebration of
Eid- ul-Adha by our Muslim brothers and sisters which falls on Wednesday, 28 of June 2023 is to be
observed as a national holiday for all and sundry. This press release has the been affirmed by Ambrose Dery, minister for the interior.
Eid – ul- Adha is part of the calendar of our Muslim brothers and sisters which comes right after Eid -ul-
Fitr, the festival that takes place to mark the end of Ramadan .It is also known as the smaller celebration
whilst Eid – ul-Adha is the bigger celebration.
Furthermore, this celebration is done to remember the devotion of Ibrahim also known as Abraham and the survival of Ishmael. On this day, Muslims go all out to slaughter the meat of their choice but mostly cows and
goats, and distribute it to friends, family, and the needy in the community or vicinity they reside in as
well as share gifts among themselves.
Additionally, this is also an occasion to mark the end of Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in the lifetime of a believer if they are financially capable. It is a beautiful occasion that enforces ties in religion, peace, love
almsgiving, and togetherness.
This can be an add-up to experience an event outside of one’s own and so pack a bag, lodge in any of the hotels and resorts in hotels to lodge at in our previous write-ups to experience the celebration as a
whole.
