
Standing at an elevation of 885 meters is Mount Afadja located in the Agumatsa Range around Gbledi and Liati Wote villages of the Volta Region in Ghana. Whereas “Afadja” is the name of the mountain, “to” means mountain in the local language.
Thus, “Afadja” and “to” would be “Afadjato”. This means that the correct name should be Mount “Afadja”. Therefore, it is appropriate to call it Afadjato the or Mount Afadja without repeating the word “to” which means Mountain in the local dialect.

- Take along a Backpack or crossbody bag
Climbing a mountain of 2,904 ft is not an easy journey or task so, it will be better to have a backpack in other for your hands to be free. With the backpack, you can keep your phones, keys, water bottle, camera, money and other small valuable items you wish to carry along.
Having these items in a backpack means you are free from distractions while your items are safe if you visit during the rainy season and it happens to rain. Going without a backpack would mean that the journey would not be enjoyable for you.
- Take along Lots of Water Bottle
Climbing mountain Afadjato like any other mountain is can be compared with running a marathon so, it is better to take along lots of bottle water. To prevent dehydration, water would not just quench your thirst, but would also cool your body temperature to keep you going.
Failure to take water may end up with you not finishing your journey, especially in the dry season. You may not feel thirsty until you are half-way into your journey. To be on the safer side, kindly take with you water bottles you can carry.
- Be sporty in Appearance
Climbing a mountain is no pageantry, it is better to wear better kits in other for the body and muscles to stretch freely. It is better to wear sweatpants, T-shirts, and sports jerseys with hiking boots in other not to be exhausted from climbing mount Afadjato
- Check the weather
Afadjato receives tourists all year round but, climbing during the dry season is the best since the bright and sunny weather in the dry season provides a perfect scene for photographs as well as being fortunate to see beautiful Butterflies. There are fewer shades, climbing mount Afadjato in the morning or late afternoon helps a lot from the scorching sun.
