Over the years, various governments have tried in their ways to encourage women into government.
The Kuffour, Mahama, and Akuffo Addo governments have helped in this fashion.
Successful women in line with this include Mrs. Charlotte Osei, the past Electoral Commission
Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, the current Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs. Theodora Wood,
also a past Chief Justice among others.
The woman of the moment, the Justice nominee, Gertrude Torkornoo has been in the practice for 20
years and has been tremendous in her delivery, earning her the nominee for the position she was vetted
on May 26, 2023, at the parliament house by capable and honorable persons on the vetting committee.
Her role, is in a way, another opportunity that will propel women to fight fairly to achieve such
honorable and reputed positions in the community, and the country as a whole that is if they believe
they can do better for mother Ghana.
A step in the right direction by the authority figures to encourage such especially in this patriarchy
system of ours. Ghana has a future and it is very bright.
